~ What is 'Lavender Skies? ~

 A work-in-progress comic and animation!
Open for a studio to help pick this up!

Genre: Fantasy-Romance, Adventure, Humor

🌿   Detailed Synopsis   🌿

Lavender Skies is a sweeping fantasy-romance set in the broken beautiful world of Amoura, a once-sacred realm now choked by a creeping, unnatural plague that silenced its Gods and poisons all it touches, turning hearts to ash and memories to dust. It leaves nothing behind but souls tainted by the blight.

When the daughter of a Goddess falls from the sky with no memory but a lullaby from her fading mother, the mortal domain begins to stir with more anger.

Alone and hunted by the rot, she finds sanctuary not in prophecy or power, but in the company of a clumsy, witty dwarf, scarred by loss and clinging to usefulness like a lifeline. He is somehow untouched by the spreading rot… and unprepared for the divine spark hidden behind her smile.

Bound by loss, fear, and a world that offers no mercy, their bond defies fate and decay. Together, they journey through crumbling ruins, cursed forests, and forgotten temples in a once lively world.

Time runs thin for her imprisoned divine family, as she is pursued by the merciless Alnor- the very one who trapped them all but her. The tyrant is adamant to destroy all hope and take back the final spark needed to fully corrupt both realms.

Alnor, King of rot
Once walked the divine realm of Vandellor as a trusted occupant who worked closely with the four gods, and even has an eye for Estilil. Now, he is the source of the angry rotting plague that is destroying the beauty of the mortal realm, Amoura. He quietly invented his own sigils and bypassed laws and blessings to corrupt the land his very divine brethren loved so dearly. His more corrupted form is a visual representation on his deep anger and blind fury that he was ignored by the gods, feeling like he deserved better and to be a god amongst the four.

Gave himself the title "King of Rot".

Personality:
  • Before events of the rot -
Quiet, Stoic, Intelligent, Often found refuge in the darker, shaded parts of Vandellor.
  • After the Events -
Fully corrupted, brooding, merciless, angry, but eerily calm. Threatening aura. Do not know what the next thought of his might be.
Picture
Elyndor "Sven" Lynwood
Lynwood was a messenger and knight commander of Vandellor, next in line to be the fifth god, but had bravely descended to the mortal realm to study the new unnatural plague that won't stop spreading.

Soon after this, he went missing, and all communication was severed. He had succumbed to the rot, amplified ten-fold by Alnor due to his raging jealousy and hatred for Lynwood.

Sven was a name he took to blend in with the rest of the folk in Amoura after taking form of an Elf - due to the connection to Vaelros, the god who created elves. His real name is Elyndor.
Picture
Brick Ironshade
Boru's cousin, the last remaining family member and relative after the destruction of Durnhollow.

A brutal survivor, greedy and domineering. Hides behind the fear of powerlessness. Cruelly charismatic and ruthlessly sadistic in nature. Was not always this way as a child.

Enjoys intimidation and controlling manipulation, very hands-on punishment. Uses these traits to make himself feel powerful.

Takes it out on mostly Boru, who he grew up with. Reads his insecurities and has physically hurt him (origin of most of Boru's scars), or forced him on dangerous tasks that would result in those scars. (testing traps, clearing thorn bushes)

When overpowered with the corruption of rot, he becomes a follower of Alnor, and a a merciless, angry brute, especially knowing Boru never 'grew a backbone' and challenged his defiance later in the story. He hunts down Boru through the story.

bORU AND bRICK hISTORY
Two Durnhollow cousins raised under the same roof but different rules. Boru is shaped by patient miners who prize care and craft; Brick is shaped by a foreman father who worships strength and results. Grandfather Durnhollow’s open favoritism for “the stronger child” solidifies the split: Boru learns to endure; Brick learns to dominate.

Brick’s house (wealth, absence): His father, Hadrik Ironshade, ran a prosperous ore-contracting shop on the ridge, a man who measured love in ledgers. Brick’s mother died when he was very young; no one in the Ironshade home said her name out loud. Hadrik prized control: polished boots, tight belts, a boy’s posture corrected with a cuff. Brick learned early that tears made adults go cold and silence made them proud.

Boru’s house (modest, warmth): Boru grew up at the edge of Durnhollow among miners and stitchers. His parents came home caked in dust and still found time to feed the neighbors’ kids. In that kitchen, worth was measured in how gently you set a cup down for somebody with shaking hands.

The old shattered rib (pre-Rot):
During a “training spar” staged by Brick’s father to prove who’s fit to lead crews, Brick “accidentally” drives a knee, capped in iron, into Boru’s side while Grandfather watches. The rib never sets right. Brick learns that hurting Boru earns approval. Boru learns to hide pain and keep working. Brick uses this injury as a constant threat. He isn’t afraid to break it if Boru does not follow his demands or shows any kind of resistance and weakness.

Why Brick stays cruel (before any corruption):
  • Strength = worth. His father’s grief curdled into dogma, and Brick keeps proving himself against the nearest target.
  • Boru, despite being “soft,” is liked by those outside of his circle of kin. That kindness looks like a treasure Brick was denied.
  • Every time Boru won’t break, Brick feels the sting of his own fear. Hurting Boru becomes a way to silence that shame.
  •  Early rewards (Grandfather’s nods, father’s approval) wire Brick to equate control with safety. He keeps pressing the bruise because it keeps working.

Why Boru stays soft:
  • Mother’s model:  Her lullabies and first-aid lessons give him a different definition of strong.
  • Miner’s patience: He’s trained to solve problems slowly: brace the beam, ease the weight, save the living. That cadence becomes a temperament.
  • Stubborn hope: Being kind in a hard place feels like his only way not to become what hurt him. His pride is private: do the next good thing. “Nobody should feel the way I do.”

summary of Leanna & her purpose
Leanna is the daughter of Estilil, the Goddess of Nature and Sky. She is the only child born from the four main Gods, accidentally created in her own hands when overcome with emotion and desire to have a child of her own. She was formed from love, light, stars, nature, and Estilil's devotion. From there, Leanna was raised for many years, creating things alongside her mother that fit their world, learning of some but not all of what the mortal realm holds. The significance of Lavender Skies title comes from her and her mother painting the evening skies Lavender and Gold every night as a symbol of their connection and the serenity they feel. It will be a deep connection and guide for the main story itself.

After the events that took place in "Alnor, The Gods, and the betrayal", Leanna was suddenly cast down at the last second before the antagonist, Alnor, took over the divine realm of Vandellor and locked all the gods (but her) away. This act was a last resort, as gods and goddesses don't normally allow themselves to pass the threshold to the mortal realm. (Divine Law). In the very rare event that a divine/god is sent to the mortal realm for whatever reason, there is a long ritual that prepares the body to pass through the threshold to Amoura. This includes manifesting an anchor (mortal disguise). Leanna's rushed departure comes with complications that don't normally apply to proper descent with ritual, which is her need to have her mother's pendant close by, or she suffers a strong whiplash between divine and mortal. A painted shimmerstone holding a piece of Estilil’s soul, and the three other blessing crystals belonging to the remaining three gods needed to activate the Veilroot (combined into one stone).

Without the last piece, which is Leanna, Alnor cannot completely destroy Vandellor, corrupt the gods and spread the rot much faster through Amoura in an explosive act of destruction, creating a world better shaped for him. Her absence in Vandellor keeps this from happening, as does her presence in the mortal realm with her mother's necklace holding all the blessing stones. Unfortunately this also makes Alnor angrier, his rot growing faster, demanding his infected army to find Leanna before she finds a away to reverse Alnor's trap.

Alnor, The GODS, and the betrayal
Alnor once walked Vandellor as a very knowledgeable scribe of sorts. Not fully a god, but a powerful divine being nonetheless. He gained the trust of the main four gods: Yana, Valys, Estilil, Khazul- and and became one of their most intelligent messengers that worked closely with their magic.

One of their strongest knights and former messengers, Sven (formerly Elyndor) goes missing after being allowed access to Amoura to study the deadly mysterious, brand new plague that is creeping through the world - and was replaced by Alnor, his brother. (intentional) Alnore hoped that one day he may become fully blessed by one of the four gods, which gifts the power near equivalent to the four. This way, he could gain control the cleaner way, instead of Sven, who had been rumored to become the fifth god and steal the heart of Estilil, someone he also adored. To get him out of the way, Alnor had recommended he descend to study this new unnatural plague up close, which prompted the extremely rare instance of a divine being passing the mortal threshold. Alnor's plan to rid of Sven worked, but as time continued to pass, they did not bless him like he wanted. This birthed the darker, violent plan the more he grew resentful.

Regardless of the professional close relationship he faked with the gods, Alnor was always resentful of ephemeral design— giving mortals choice, cycles, decay. He grew disgusted at the beautiful, perfect world. He wanted more control and perfect darkness to match his soul. So, over time, he had secretly embedded his own, newly invented runes/sigils throughout the perimeter of the realm, hidden from other divine eyes.

Over time, the gods became more suspicious and aware of the strange events that first started happening in Amoura, and now Vandellor, especially after Sven went MIA. So they called a council and had him attend. Before this, Alnor had already quietly planted the runes/sigils, which slowly, but deeply poisoned the sacred veins of the world that slowly rained onto various parts of Amoura. This was not a spell, it was a system infection that spread, aided by the stolen Blessing Stones that Estilil had found upon searching his study.

It didn’t spread from one point. It was coded into the foundations... slow-growing, undetectable, until Amoura started losing color, and Vandëllor began to fall silent. The mortal realm stirred uncomfortably with this disease for a year before the council was called that this was no natural illness spreading through their created land. It was something that was coming from within the divine realm.

Sven, like many other beings, succumbed to the rot so deeply because Alnor made sure of it, due to his rage and jealousy towards him. Sven forgot his purpose and allowed himself to become Alnor's third in command. Bastion, a human of Amoura, was also victim to this controlling source and the second in command to Alnor. Bastion was one of the very first living creatures he contacted and whispered through a poisoned root that corrupted him deeply.

Sven and Bastion walk the mortal realm as Alnor cannot, to be his own little messengers and to faster physically spread the demise, recruit corrupted soldiers and destroy important landmarks and villages. In Amoura, "The Rot" comes in spores, thorns, roots, and decaying forms, and spreads through spores or the blood of another blight-infected.

Creatures and enemies of AMoura
The world of Amoura is still somewhat fresh.  (Only 10 thousand years old)

Each god was in charge of making certain parts that make up Amoura, some even collaborating.
There are humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, gnomes, pixies, rootwalkers, littlelings, wisps, and much more that populate the land.
They only create but do not control past a certain point. This is what Alnor hated amongst many other things.

Once the rot started spreading like a disease, many closed their borders, especially higher ranking kingdoms. Many did not, such as the villages that Boru and Leanna come across. Some are warded by a mysterious combination of elements that repels the rot - others don't even bother and are slowly succumbing to the darkness. The world is empty for now, until the fear and darkness can disperse.

These are the ones who fall victim faster to the rot, but especially so if their souls matched with it. Any being infected become the Rot-infected, The Blight, Blightbound, or stalkers, that vary in decay and sanity.

There are other creatures that have succumbed to the rot that have been given a nickname. Suffering hostile animals strengthened by the rot have been named "Hollows".

Overall, main threats are as followed:
  • -Blight (succumbed creatures)
  • -Hunters/Bandits/Townsfolk/thieves with ill intentions
  • -Plague Beasts, Hollows (succumbed large animals)
  • -Greedy Queen/Kings that want Leanna’s power for themselves.

The Rot
Picture
Picture
Picture

The rot, or the blight, was born from Alnor's rage and hatred. Roots of Vandellor and Amoura were infected by Alnor's sigils that spread slowly but aggressively. Amoura started fading in places.

There are two types of rot victims.

 - Type 1: Regular corruption -

Any human or creature who falls victim to the rot will experience these deadly symptoms:

♦ Phase 1. Experience mental numbness and fall into auto-pilot mode. The rot is studying the body, spreading through nerves. Disorientation. Agitation or aggression rises. Some can still peek their humanity through at this point.
Physical Symptoms: Desaturated skin tone, darker circles under the eyes, color has faded and there is no shine to the eye.

♦ Phase 2. Panic,  hysteria and hallucinations. The victim will be more aggressive and start unnecessary divide and amplify conflicts. Destructive. It is hard for them to find reason.
Physical Symptoms: Paler skin, cracked skin that shows the blight, similar appearance to the way the rot looks like it’s burning on plantlife, flaking away the more infected they become. Lots of bleeding from nose and mouth.

♦ Phase 3. Complete corruption. The user or animal is now fully succumbed. They bleed black and red. Their skin bleeds ash that flurries into the air. The eyes are sunken in and red. There is a large back mass in the center where the veins fan out across the body. Aggressive. Some merciless.
Physical Symptoms: Still have their memories and act somewhat ‘alive’ still, just basically become unreasonable, stronger, angry beasts of blight.

Spread:
The rot attaches itself and feeds off of the existing darkness within their souls first. Murderers, criminals, those with ill intentions, or just straight up evil persons are easy victims, as it matches Alnor’s heart.  Some with lesser ‘sins’ can fight the curse only for so long until they become too disoriented to do anything about it.

Spreads through:
  • Infected roots that are broken open and the spores can spill out.
Blighted trees and or animal corpses “bloom” with rotfungus, releasing spores. Some do not know this when burning their bodies or burying victims, causing others to become infected.
  • Infected or new types of fungus that bind with existing ones that easily spread the spores.
  • Stagnant waters where the rot has time to sit.
  • Fruits from infected trees
  • Animal or human bites or blood contact.

- Type 2: Soldiers and Beasts -
  • Handpicked or randomly chosen beings of Amoura that are infected in a different, more controlled way, but can still succumb to a type 1 infected if discipline isn't taught harshly and they lose control of themselves. This is why Brick becomes a beast. Harvested and ingested forcefully, this is the best way to infect a being specifically for them to become a soldier that in the circle who can hear Alnor's whispers. They look like "Phase 1" infected and can still somewhat mimic a normal being.

Timeline of infection:
  • Healthy --> Phase 1:
  • -If ingested, bitten, stabbed, injected: 1-2 days.
  • -Chance of healing: 15% if treated quickly with Shimmerstone powder-infused water.
  • -If inhaled naturally through spores: 2 weeks.
  • -Chance of healing: 75% - 100% if treated quickly or removed from infected area to fresh air.

  • Phase 1 --> Phase 2 :
  • Time until next phase: 2 days - 1 month, depends on transmission or level of infection.
  • Chance of reversing: 30% with Shimmerstone magic.

  • Phase 2 --> Phase 3:
  • Time until next phase: 3 days from previous phase change
  • Chance of reversing: 0%

Possible cures:

♦ Since this is so aggressive and new, not many have figured out a cure. The best way that most life on Amoura handles the spores in the air is to wear special manmade masks and filter their waters and avoid getting bit. Later on in the story, it is known that Shimmerstone fragments or dust can be used as a deterrent or anti-rot. There are many fragments that are harvested that can be used to filter water, rivers, and to even be forged into a weapon that would come later in handy. The littlelings are in charge of making Boru and Langleaf, and even Sven, some anti-rot weapons.

Shimmerstones & The Veilroot
In Amoura, Shimmerstones are fragments of leftover Aura—the gods’ light, song, and blessing—formed during the world’s creation. They manifest naturally where divine energy once flowed strongest, particularly within Auralis, the ethereal pocket of land that shelters the Veilroot. Though powerful in a divine’s grasp, it is only half as useful to mortals, but most do not know its powerful significance yet.

Over ten thousand years, the Veilroot’s colossal roots have stretched deep beneath Amoura, forming luminous veins of Shimmerstone that pulse faintly with godlight. These veins reach across the continent like arteries, with at least five major pockets known to exist. Some veins lie exposed in caverns or crystal-lined tunnels where the tree’s roots have pierced through the bedrock.

The Veilroot:

The backdoor failsafe location for Vandellor, and the protective heart of Amoura. Was originally a doorway when gods still walked Amoura but turned into a one-way failsafe/back door once Amoura was set to thrive freely, and the gods retired in Vandellor.

It is doubtful anything would have happened in a land made out of love and light. To have it activated or ‘open’ it needs all four crystals owned by the Gods and a divine being. It creates a pulse of godsong/magic to reverse any ill-intending runes that could possibly cause harm to Vandellor and the ones who shaped Amoura.

Its roots travel far beneath the land and branch off into different locations that house more Shimmerstone veins, but not all the way across Amoura.

Other New Creatures & Foliage

Mosspods
Mosspods - small, moss-covered golem type creatures with healing capabilities that clean the forest. They are drawn to true, pure souls. They start out looking like small bits of pollen, growing larger and floating around until they attach to a stone. From then, their moss grows on the stone, making it a sentient ‘body’ of sorts that can still get around with appendages or hopping/rolling.   They make tiny muffled squeaking sounds, especially when excited. They are Leanna's first creation as a goddess after she was born. They often pop up in random locations Leanna is resting. They have healing capabilities, but only to an extent. During the event of the rot, they attempted to clean bits of forest they thrive in to slow the spread. It is not yet known why they do not succumb to the spreading plague.
Littlelings
Picture
Picture
Littlelings (Littles, Sprouts) are another one of Leanna's creations, made when she was slightly older and more experienced than when she made Mosspods. Made out of admiration and inspiration to be like her, she created Littlelings. They are smaller and more animal like versions of Halflings, which were her mother's creations. They are about as tall as the waistline of an average Halfling. nimble forest folk. Specializes in forest ecology & minor healing magic. Langleaf, a major side character, is a witty knight alongside a group of others that protect the forests they live beneath

There are two kinds that thrive in Amoura: Clovepine Littles and Hollow Circle Littles.

Rootwalkers and Grovekeepers
Picture

  • Rootwalkers – Nomadic treefolk who can uproot themselves and roam and protect the forest. They spend time seeking out places in need of their healing energy, repopulation, and healing.
  • Grovekeepers - ‘crawlers’ or mini walkers, are smaller versions of the Rootwalkers. They can range from being quadpetal to bipedal, more animalistic and able to get around quicker. Made of bark and root that is covered by random foliage and moss. Sometimes used as mounts. Intelligent creatures. They are secondary guardians to forestry lands. Some can be guides in foggy forests.
